What is Value Selling?

Sell the business outcome, not the product tour, with a value hypothesis the buyer can correct.

What it means

Value Selling is a way of selling the business outcome instead of the product. The seller forms a value hypothesis: a testable idea that says if this problem stays, this outcome follows, and here is what would change if it were solved. The buyer should be able to say the hypothesis is wrong.

Value Selling is a sales method: a framework for how to think and write. It is not a study result, and this page does not attach a win rate or reply rate to it. This site is not affiliated with its authors or with any company that teaches it.

What it means for a sales email

A Value Selling email talks about the change in their operation: time, risk, revenue, cost, or a commitment they need to keep. The outcome belongs to them, as in your team or your launch, not to your product. It may name what the current way already costs them, using the pain they described.

The key rule: if you do not have their number, do not invent one. Stay qualitative, or ask them for the figure. The ask should let them correct your hypothesis rather than jump straight to a demo.

Writing practice and method guidance, not a study result.
