What is Command of the Message?

A way to state your point: how you are different, what the buyer needs to do, and the outcome it serves.

What it means

Command of the Message is a way to write and say the point of a sales conversation. It links three things: how you are different from the other options, which capabilities the buyer actually needs, and which business outcome those capabilities serve. A capability is a job the buyer must be able to do. A dashboard or a workflow is a feature.

Command of the Message is a sales method: a framework for how to think and write. It is not a study result, and this page does not attach a win rate or reply rate to it. This site is not affiliated with its authors or with any company that teaches it.

What it means for a sales email

An email built this way carries one commercial idea the reader could repeat after reading it. Your point of view shows up before any product pitch. Differentiation is stated in this buyer's situation, compared with how they work today or a named alternative. Best in class is not differentiation.

Any contrast or result uses only facts you were given. A new percentage you cannot back up does not belong in the email.

Writing practice and method guidance, not a study result.
