Each check is explained in plain words. Checks based on research link to the source. The rest are labeled as writing practice.
Names a problem or outcome they would recognize
Say what goes away or what changes for them, not what your product is. Cold emails that led with the buyer's priority did better than a pitch. One source is cold call data and is labeled that way.

No buzzwords
Words like "all-in-one" or "streamline" say little. Gong's call data found problem words beat buzzwords, and two psychology studies outside sales found jargon and fancy words make a message harder to take in.

No bare return-on-investment promise
A claim like "3x ROI" floats with no context about their problem. On cold emails it went with lower success. Describe the problem instead, and never invent a number.

Written about them, not about you
Start from the reader's situation, not "We" or your company name. A soft check: it never fails a draft on its own.

Specific, not generic
A concrete task, role, or situation beats a line that could be sent to anyone. Rewarded when present, a soft miss when absent.

Fits the reader's level
Only when you add the reader's role. A senior reader needs the business impact. A hands-on reader needs the daily problem. Left blank, it is marked Not checked and never counts against you.

One or two sentences
Say what you do for them in one or two sentences. This is a writing practice, not a study result. No study measures the length of a value line.

Unconsidered need (optional)
Naming a cost they had not weighed can beat restating a need they already know. It is optional: skipping it never lowers your score.
